“Halal soul food from the Abdul-Musawwir siblings—the chopped cheese and fried chicken are why people come back. Execution wobbles (temperature, order accuracy) but the heart is real.”

I will not be returning to this place again. I ordered a steak and cheese and a chopped cheese for my wife, as well as some fries with buffalo Chicken egg rolls, which weren’t cooked all the way through. My first issue is with the owner/staff. While ordering my wife’s chopped…

Soul food done right. The chicken was delicious and well seasoned. The sides were so authentic. The yams were a little sweet and very tender and the Mac had some amazing mix ins and was well seasoned. The service was friendly and nice, would recommend and will be returning

It was a lively place with regular customers coming in one after another. The chopped cheese was insanely good! The buns were crispy, and everything came together perfectly.

“Hidden halal gem in Roxbury—the salmon and lamb are worth the trip, but walk in with low expectations for the space and staff. Cleanliness needs work, and the owner's mood matters.”

“Nubian Markets is a gem worth defending. The jerk chicken and rice are the move — order from the hot bar, skip the inconsistent bowls, and know the halal meat counter holds its own.”

“Their site confirms halal meats throughout, but the execution is inconsistent—dry chicken, salty lamb, missing flavor. The service has moments of warmth and moments of dismissal. Worth trying if you're near campus, but manage expectations on quality.”
